Even if you visit every day, there is always something new to learn when it comes to Colonial Williamsburg. Our mission is “that the future may learn from the past,” and we strive each day to succeed. Colonial Williamsburg: The Official Guide, serves as THE comprehensive guide to all things CW.
My favorite line of the book’s description reads, “This all-new guide to the Revolutionary City provides the most comprehensive and up-to-date information on what happened here and why it mattered—and still matters.” The events that took place in Williamsburg and in the years after independence was obtained really do matter today. They paved the way for this great nation and Americans are who they are because of the people of Williamsburg during the Revolution.
The guide contains beautiful photos of the Revolutionary City. If you have little ones in your family who can’t read just yet, they will love pouring over the bright pictures of the Revolutionary City.
The stories that make up Colonial Williamsburg and its rich history are packed full of information—some of which you may have never heard before! One of my favorite programs is “Storming the Palace,” and the guide really digs into the history of the missing gunpowder and why the colonists were so angry with Lord Dunmore.
Whether you’re a newbie or a veteran, you’re sure to find this guide just right for your trip to the Revolutionary City. I highly recommend it and for $20, it’s a steal. Perfect as a gift, too!
