Before there were historic trades there were prehistoric technologies. Here comes a rare opportunity to see them side-by-side. For one day only, Saturday, November 19, RE-Arc, a meeting of reconstructive and experimental archaeologists, will bring some of the foremost experts in the world to demonstrate ancient technologies in conjunction with the group’s annual conference in Williamsburg. …
“Beyond the Ohio” Commemorates 18th-Century Native Missions to Williamsburg
When tribal delegations made their way to Williamsburg in the 18th century, they traveled ancient highways, overland routes that connected Indian nations across hundreds of miles, in territory that was far from uninhabited. This weekend members of the Shawnee, Eastern Shawnee, Seneca-Cayuga, Wyandot, and Delaware nations return to the colonial capital for a weekend that commemorates those visits….

1781: The Road to Yorktown Starts Here in Williamsburg
In September 1781, the Continental Army and French Allied forces turned Williamsburg into a sprawling military encampment as they planned the siege of nearby Yorktown, which would be the decisive battle that cemented American independence.

Inside a Magical Colonial Williamsburg Wedding
When I think of a classic and sophisticated Williamsburg wedding, my mind immediately goes to simplistic elegance. I’m talking greenery, white florals, and those simple southern touches. Jenny and Sean’s Williamsburg Inn wedding included all of that, and so much more!…
Grab Your Leashes Because DoG Street is Once Again Going to the Dogs!
Last year, we had a great idea to introduce our new mascot Liberty. Joined by General Washington, our Briard pup led a parade down Duke of Gloucester Street, while collecting donations and raising awareness for our community partner, Heritage Humane Society. We honestly thought that 100, maybe 200, people would show up. But let me tell you—never underestimate the power of animal lovers! It seemed as if all of Williamsburg wanted to show its support. In the end, close to a thousand people and their pets descended on the Historic Area for the big event….
Fallen Heroes Saluted at Capitol
Col. Gary West, a retired Air Force fighter pilot, is a thousand miles into his “Patriot Honor Ride” from Lubec, Maine at the Canada border to mile marker zero in Key West. Trading in his F-16 for a bicycle, he’s making stops in 15 states and Washington, D.C. to raise money and support for Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships for family members of soldiers who were killed or disabled while serving….

At the National Sporting Library & Museum (NSLM) we discuss topics relating to equestrian sports as well as turf and field sports—which covers everything from coaching and polo to fly fishing and wing shooting! We represent it all in art and in books. Let’s just say if the Brontes wrote about it, we have it here. And last weekend, more than a dozen carriages and hundreds of people (including staff from Colonial Williamsburg) came to celebrate our first ever “Carriage Day.”…
