This holiday season, make the past your present by giving to Colonial Williamsburg in honor of someone who values history as much as you do. Whether your passion is our beautiful gardens, Fifes and Drums, or Rare Breeds Program, there are wonderful options for supporting the efforts to maintain the programs you love.
When you purchase a Colonial Williamsburg Present from the Past, we’ll send the recipient a note with a description of the program you are supporting, a personalized message, and your choice of a “Sally Lamb” plush animal, a nylon blue train case with the Colonial Williamsburg logo, or a 13-star flag ornament. But hurry! December 1 is the deadline for getting the gift shipped to arrive by Christmas.
Please keep us in mind as you consider gifts for friends and relatives, and think about making a gift in support of your favorite part of Williamsburg. The following opportunities represent examples of the work that is required to make this remarkable place come to life each day. And thank you!
Feed a Horse ($35)
Gentle giant Luke is the newest addition to our stable of almost 30 horses. He’s a ten-year old Percheron Gelderlander standing some 17.1 hands high. Your gift of $35 can supply a week’s worth of hay for one of our horses during the cold winter months.
Plant Flowers ($35)
Keep the Cannon Firing ($35)
Our military interpreters demonstrate colonial firearms and provide the BOOM! at the end of the day. Keep the cannons firing with a gift of $35, which supplies two pounds of gunpowder.
Supply 18th-Century Bricks ($50)
The elements take their toll on our historic buildings. Fortunately, our Brickyard is there to stomp, mold, and fire new bricks (with help from our guests!). Every year thousands of our bricks are used for repairs and new construction alike. $50 pays for a hundred authentically-produced bricks.
Feed a Lamb ($50)
The Spring lambing season is one of the most wondrous things to see, with the newcomers scampering and skipping all over the pastures. A $50 gift can feed a newly-weaned Leicester Longwool lamb for a whole month.
Plant or Provide for a Fruit Tree ($75)
Maintain Historic Buildings ($100)
It may not be the prettiest or most exciting thing happening in Williamsburg, but what is more indispensable? We have an incredible group of skilled colleagues who keep everything in working order and free of decay. Your gift of $100 can help purchase materials and labor needed to maintain buildings both inside and out, ensuring that our historic buildings will still be here to inspire future generations of Americans.
Deck the Halls… and Doors ($100)
Every year, by the weekend of Grand Illumination, the city is adorned with candles in windows and wreaths on doors. The atmosphere is pure magic, and inspiring—would you think to include artichokes? Your gift of $100 can help us ring in the season with a festive display of holiday decor—from materials to individual design and craftsmanship.
Equip a Fifer ($150)
When the Fife and Drum Corps marches down Duke of Gloucester Street, they always draw a crowd. You can keep the music playing with a gift of $150, which pays for a regulation-issue fife for a young member of the Corps.
Shoe a Horse ($150)
Our horses aren’t just pretty faces; they do a lot of work in town, including setting the pace for a perfect carriage ride. In fact, they work so hard that they need new shoes every month. $150 pays for a new set of shoes.
Raise a Flag ($300)
If you’re feeling super-patriotic, consider a gift of $300, representing the cost of supplying a flag for use during military programming.
Now if you still can’t decide because you love everything about Colonial Williamsburg equally, you can also check the box to symbolically allocate your donation to wherever the need is greatest. Just choose the amount you’d like to give. We’ll still send your message and the gift you selected. The Foundation endures thanks to the generosity of the thousands of people who donate to support its operations and upkeep. We appreciate whatever you can afford to give!
