Dear Friends:
Today we join a grateful Nation in commemorating Veterans Day. Although a single day cannot adequately honor the enormity of the sacrifices made by millions of men and women in uniform in the service of freedom, we take this special opportunity to reflect on their courage and recognize their service in our common cause.
As with so much of our Nation’s history, Williamsburg holds a unique place in our hearts on Veterans Day. Men and women from Williamsburg have served in nearly every major conflict our Nation has faced since its inception. Indeed, the very freedom that Colonial Williamsburg celebrates daily was won with the blood of local patriots. We owe them nothing less than our devotion to keeping the lamp of liberty forever lit.
Best,
Mitchell B. Reiss

Thank you, Mr. Reiss, for the message and post honoring our veterans! What an appropriate place from which to hear this message. Wish I was there in Williamsburg today. Huzzah!
