From the haunting tales of the Official Colonial Williamsburg Ghost Walk to lively entertainment and debate inside our 18th-century Alehouse—fun in the Revolutionary City continues well after the sun goes down. And as we get closer to autumn (my favorite time of year), we’ll soon have the added glow of the cressets!
Local photographers (and friends of the blog) Shannon Schojan, Arden Billings, Chuck Durfor, Michael Wilkes, Rob Hunter, and George Hunt, Jr. shared the following images from various times of year. Be sure to let us know which is your favorite. And for a complete list of all our evening programs, click here!

all beautiful reminders of visits past. Have not been able to visit for a few years, The Colonial houses are the best, we loved the Masonic Kitchen, you can slip out the door very early or late and the town is quiet. it truly is magical, as if being transported back in time. (and we dont mind the occasional electric lamps, beats tripping on the sidewalk or stepping in something the horses left behind)

These are lovely photos! They Make me want to be there and take a long walk around after dark enjoying night noises.

My thoughts exactly, so nice to take a leisurely stroll after a great meal at one of the taverns, or maybe a recital, listening to sounds of the night and seeing the stars twinkle. Ah, the mind pleasantly wanders!

Marilyn - I think you should do just that! You should also look into some of our evening programs!

I cannot even begin to tell you how my heart loves and aches for CW. What a wonderful world by day and night. AND another story all together at Christmas time. Chritmas Eve on Duke of Gloucester Street is my dream. Thank you for sharing these magical photos’n

Yes, Sherry! Christmas is definitely one of my favorite times of year to grab a hot cider and gingerbread cookie and walk down Duke of Gloucester or better yet, snuggle up under a blanket and take a carriage ride!

Beautiful pictures. However, I think some of the ambience of being in an 18th century town has definitely been list by contempory lighting. There is sonething special in walking the streets at night without artificial lighting.

That’s “lost” & “something”. Need to proofread!

They were all spectacular for capturing a most special time of the day at CW. My favorite, though, is DoG Street with the Brouton Parish Church; it reminds me of the many beautiful evening concerts and recitals I have enjoyed there over the years.
Jessica A. Ross says
George Hunt, Jr. is the talented photographer who captured and shared that beautiful shot of Bruton Parish!
