Colonial Williamsburg Serves as Set for Season Two of AMC’s TURN

TURN-S2_Horizontal_FM1When you tune in to AMC’s TURN: Washington’s Spies beginning April 13, you’ll see some familiar locations. Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area served as the backdrop for several scenes in the upcoming season.

As we’ve already established, I’m a huge TURN fan. As a nerd for everything American Revolution, I was super excited when this show was first announced. There is definitely not enough fictional movies and TV shows about this very important part of history if you ask me, and I hope you agree.

Thankfully, TURN was renewed for a second season and AMC wanted to use Colonial Williamsburg as a filming location. Now let me preface this by saying Williamsburg is unfortunately not the setting. CW is actually serving as Philadelphia, BUT that’s what will make the game of watching for the Magazine or Governor’s Palace even more fun. Take a look at AMC’s trailer for season two and pay close attention to the :15 and 1:15 marks and comment here with what you see!

Exciting stuff, right? Doesn’t it really get you ready for the premiere?

I was able to hang out on set for some of the filming. With my film school background, it was definitely fun on be on a set again like old times. It makes you appreciate all of the hard work put into a show or movie. There are so many people working behind the scenes to make sure everything is factually correct and seamless. One scene, shown in the trailer, involved Redcoats marching behind the Courthouse. The crew transformed our quiet little town into a bustling Philadelphia with the help of digital effects.

AMC goes into more detail on the characters and what to expect in season two here:
