Our own Renaissance man, Thomas Jefferson, was able to take a look at some of Leonardo da Vinci’s works now on display at the Muscarelle Museum. Naturally, the cameras were rolling.
The Muscarelle’s new exhibit, “Leonardo da Vinci and the Idea of Beauty,” runs Feb. 21 through April 5. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Muscarelle, it’s housed on the campus of William & Mary next to the Phi Beta Kappa Hall. Take a look at Mr. Jefferson’s tour in the video below.
As we’ve established, I love history. My favorite period is the American Revolution, but I really love all history. The Renaissance was one of my favorite periods to study in Art History and Leonardo da Vinci was nothing short of a genius. To be up close and personal with some of his drawings is an experience you really won’t want to miss. This exhibit will travel to only one other city in the entire country. Just one!
We’re offering a special package featuring some amazing, exclusive events during one special weekend. From March 20 to March 22, stay with us and enjoy a three-course Italian dinner followed by a dessert reception and an after-hours tour of the da Vinci exhibit! Other events include a wine and cheese reception as well as a curator-led tour of the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. Click here for more information.
Side note, when you visit the exhibit, you can find out how to access da Vinci’s Codex on the Flight of Birds on your phone or tablet. The virtual tool lets you flip through the codex and read da Vinci’s notes. It’s really neat.
I hope you join us! Have you had a chance to tour the exhibit yet or are you already planning to come by? Let us know in the comments.
[…] The event is April 20 -22 and it promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many. That’s because the exhibit is only making two stops in the United States, and we’re one of them. Find out how you can make your reservations by clicking here. And if you’re still not convinced, watch what happened when our own Thomas Jefferson went to see what all the buzz is about! […]
