…and second in the latest rankings of best president ever.
George Washington, first president of the United States and Williamsburg favorite, finished behind only Abraham Lincoln in a recent survey conducted by the American Political Science Association.
Despite his share of troubles over the course of two terms, Thomas Jefferson came in fifth, trailing Franklin and Theodore Roosevelt, third and fourth, respectively.
James Madison fared somewhat worse, finishing 13th. So much for getting credit for a wartime presidency.

I personally, don’t think that you can compare any of the other presidents with George Washington. In my opinion he deserves to be on a whole different level due to his contributions and services to this Country. Whether he was defending our liberties, commanding the army, or filling the job as our first President, he always did what was best for the people of this country.

Let’s put Martha Washington on the $20.00 bill. What a tribute to her husband! Most of our currency already praises famous men in history and she would be a wonderful but neutral portrait for our country.
