As to the behavior of our public officials … if they cannot be trusted to do the proper thing when no one is watching, then how can we trust them to do the proper thing in public. That is the definition of ‘character’. I fear that our contemporary public officials live in a world unto themselves and forget that we as tax payers are they ’employers’

Poor Mr. Jefferson. Why does everyone have to needle him when he’s in the tavern? First Lydia Broadnax, and now Martha Washington, lol. Of course, Mrs. W may have a point, if you read Mr. J’s letter to Philip Mazzei from April 24, 1796. 😉

Of course, he was not speaking personally but politically. If you read his later letters, you will find he had a great deal of respect and affection for GW.
Am enjoying these videos and hope they continue. 🙂
