On the recipe page, one of the recipes is linked and titled as “Welsh Rabbit.” I thought it was supposed to “Welsh Rarebit.” I had some at the Shields Tavern in March when my husband and I were visiting as part of the “Spring Stories” package. Thank you for sharing these recipes!

Thanks for your great question. Our Historic Foodways staff confirm that “Welsh Rabbit” is the correct term for our time period and location. However, in other parts of the country and through the centuries, you may well find the same preparation referred to as “Welsh Rarebit.”

Peanut soup sounds strange but tastes delicious! I order it everytime I eat at the tavern in Williamsburg. Love the idea of making it at home.
