Constitution Day

Today marks the 224th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution.

On Sept. 17, 1787, a new government was born with these words:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

In 1987, Former chief justice Warren Burger wrote “The lessons of the nation’s heritage cannot be learned without first reading and grasping the meaning of this remarkable document–the first of its kind in all human history.”
